Everything is abuzz here in our house. The Christmas Season is often chaos for most of us. How do we make it simpler, filled with peace and joy? After all, isn’t that the purpose of the season… to recognize the blessings and gifts in our life?

My dreams are helping me. A couple of nights ago I had a nightmare. In the dream, my home was total chaos; nothing was as it should be. I called for help over and over, but no one seemed concerned or answered my pleas to make things right. It was up to me to solve the problems. It felt overwhelming.

When I awoke, I knew that I had to create some structure so that I could enjoy the week with my husband, my daughters and their families who were all visiting us. I wanted to en-JOY the week and the blessings of Christmas. I previously learned through my dreams that a part of me really likes to have some structure for each day. I knew I had to honor my ‘organized self’ so that my ‘playful self’ could have its time. And so far, it’s working!

And then there is our Christmas Angel. Miller, who is now 7 months old, is enough Christmas for me this year. What pure joy! What innocence! All the basic joys of life − He’s happy with the lights, pretty packages and just a pat-a-cake or two. And as long as his tummy is full and his diapers are clean, he’s a happy boy. Well, he does like to be held, but who doesn’t − Christmas or anytime?!

Are we all searching for a way to reclaim this simple life throughout our lives?
